FAITH WORKS MIRACLES - 29 NOVEMEBER 2004

My humble Pranams at the Lotus Feet of our Dear Mother Sai. Sai ram aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters and Gurus. I am Khushboo from Group 4. Today, I will share with you a very common yet important topic - Faith. Swami has said that we should have total faith in God, whichever form of God we may choose. What exactly is faith? According to Swami, faith is self-confidence. We should believe in ourselves. Self-confidence is the foundation of our lives. On this foundation, we should build the wall of self-satisfaction and lay the rules of self-sacrifice. Only then will we earn the bliss of self-realisation.

Let me share with you a story about two women, Mrs Guna and Mrs Gulshan. Mrs Guna was a very rich lady. However, she had no faith in God. She believed that money was everything in this world. One day, she met with an accident. Unfortunately, Mrs Guna's thighbone was fractured. She was admitted to a very reputable nursing home. She had a special room, provided with all the necessary amenities. Eminent surgeons were consulted and she received the best treatment any patient could receive. However, Mrs Guna's fracture did not show any improvement. What do you think was the reason behind this? Mrs Guna complained everyday. She did not believe that faith worked miracles. She lay a miserable patient - always gloomy and depressed.

Adjoining to her room was another room, where lay another woman, called Mrs Gulshan, of modest means. She believed in God with strong faith. She, too, had met with an accident and had three fractures. She was admitted many weeks after Mrs Guna. Her healing was surprisingly quick. In fact, the surgeon who treated her was amazed to see her progress. What do you think was the secret behind Mrs Gulshan's quick healing? She had accepted her pain as God's gift. She had resigned to the Will of God. Therefore, she did not complain. But, out of the depth of her heart, she uttered again and again, "Thank you, God! Thank you, God!"

Comparing the two women, we can conclude that faith does work miracles. It is due to the strong faith in God that we experience miracles in our daily lives. By surrendering yourself to God, you are expressing your faith in Him. Swami says, "Faith in yourself and faith in God - this is the secret of greatness. Life will have no value if you do not have faith in yourself. You and God are not separate. Faith in yourself is the same as faith in God." All of us should realise that faith works wonders in our lives.

We can handle all problems in our lives if we have faith in our beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. So aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters and Gurus let us all surrender ourselves to God and have faith in Him, because all that He does is for our wellbeing and strength of character.
