It was my first ever trip to Puttaparthi and I was involved
in the Christmas Seva. This task was completely managed
by foreign devotees who were present there at that time
There were about 50 people involved in this seva in
the Brothers side out of which around 20 were from Singapore.
We were in charge of the choir practice and decorations.
We also did crowd control on Christmas Day and on Christmas
Eve in Sai Kulwant Hall.
Well, I certainly did learn a lot from this seva.Firstly
what I learnt was patience. We had to sit for hours
in the Punachandra hall while the choir practice was
going on. We had to do this for 6 straight days.
Many times we had to skip breakfast and go straight
for seva at 745 am after darshan. This required a lot
of self-discipline as well as self-control. Many times
I got so frustrated and asked myself why am I involved
in this seva, but I realized that this is all for swami
and I had the company of my friends as well.
Swami always emphasizes on self control and self discipline
for youths and this was a good way swami made it for
me.Chrstmas seva was fun as we got to explore the whole
of Sai Kulwant hall. Decorating the hall was not an
easy task. We had to carry the decorations prepared
in a shed rather far from the hall and put it up. We
had to make quite a number of trips to and fro.

I consider myself very fortunate as I got to climb
all the way to the top of the hall and put up the lanterns
and other decorations. I also got a chance to put some
small decorations on Swamis door and the best
of all was that I got to climb Swamis balcony.
Only local sevadals could do that but I had a chance
to do it in my first time in parthi. We worked till
12 am in the morning on the 22nd and 23rd of December.
On one of this days I didnt even had dinner and
continued to work with Swamis grace till 1am.
On Christmas eve, I had my closest encounter with the
lord. Swami walked along the veranda where I was sitting
with some other sevadals. Bhajans were being sung by
the choir members at that time. The place where I was
sitting had no carpet for Swami to walk on. Swami came
and walked through the whole stretch where I was sitting.
It was a great experience for me. At that time I had
nothing in my mind. I just stared at swami and I felt
so refreshed after that. After few days of hard work,
Swami blessed us with such close proximity to him.
