| “Life is a song. Sing it!” - Sri Sathya Sai Baba |
The choir group Sai Lights was born in 2005 when some music-loving parents and their children from Katong Sai Centre decided that they wanted to express their love for Swami in song in yet another way other than through bhajan sessions. The youthful and enthusiastic members got together for many happy hours of practises on Sunday mornings because of their love for Swami and the joy that they derived from singing about God. As one Sai sister puts it, each member is a singing heart of Sai, filled with bliss!
Their “coach”, Sister Selina, shared with the choir her experiences in learning the songs and singing them in the physical presence of Swami through four past Christmases. She even had a dream whereby Swami was pointing to a big, lighted crystal chandelier during the time when she was thinking of a suitable name for the choir group. As such, the name “Sai Lights” was eventually selected by the members to represent their role as beacons of Swami’s Love through singing.
The choir even decided on their outfits, which consists of a gold net worn as a dupatta or as a belt over their white-on-white. Each member showed their dedication by giving their best at every performance.
Todate, Sai Lights has performed at the following events:-
- Good Friday - Easter Sunday weekend at the Katong SSEHV Combined Session on 26 March ’05;
